I lost a ski pole on March 26.
There was some controversy surrounding that occurrence, with a claim that I'd been swept away in an avalanche. My pole got swept away, not me.
Anyhow...
I went to find the pole. It's not an easy place to get to, more so in spring, snow melting out. Followed the Bowman trail to the base of Yellow Jacket and skinned to the ridge.
There was almost enough snow for a continuous descent into Alexander Basin. A view to the west revealed the last? rock slab release in Main Porter.
A little skinning, some brush whacking and thicketering, Damn that sucker is steep in spring...
Right where I left it! Too far in to climb back out, skied to snow line
Down the gully to the road.
I guess the reward was Virgin's bower.
Millcreek road is mostly melted to the overflow parking below Big Water. It does have significant debris, promoting flat tires, if bicycling.
