February 28
I went to Mill B south to look at the slides viewed yesterday.
The wind was blowing, of course,
and the lighting wasn't the best, but...
Yer crazy(my naming) broke mid slope, between the chokes. The slide ran to the flats and didn't reach Lillian lake.
None of the slides from the recent two slide cycles have been long runners. The February 20th cycle took out most of the east side of Mill B, west of the Sundial.
Another storm adding another 2" of water and
more pockets break loose.
Best I can tell, the slides have been hard slabs, most running on or near that pesky January 16th rain crust.
Wandered over for a look and see at the slide I saw yesterday. Found this wind pocket below the east face of the Sundial.
The one I was looking for, in Monte Cristo bowl.
Not sure if the last two were rain crust associated or just the result of more snow and more wind.
Still haven't seen the clean out inspiring confidence in a late winter stable snow pack, just more pockets, large and small.
Time will tell, interesting winter.
