Elevations, slope angles and aspects
7500'-10k, angles over 35°, north facing aspects.
Snow conditions
4-10" new and recent snow over a crusted base. New snow was of a medium density.
One density change within the new was sensitive in the morning, settling during the day.
Ski cutting initiated several new snow sluffs in drifted locations, which were both near the ridge and at mid slope breakovers.
Weather
Snow showers early, decreasing by noon, with patchy clearing.
Wind from the west, gusty along the upper ridges, otherwise less than 20 mph.
Evaluation
Instability was from wind drifting. Shallow soft slabs, running length variable, dependant on load and bonding with the old surface.
Lingering active drifts on lee aspects, wet activity with warming.
