April 11
Gobblers Knob
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
6100-10400', angles over 35°, north facing aspects.
Snow conditions
Patchy snow from the trail head to about 7k on the shady side.
Cooling allowed a shallow refreeze with firm surface crusts into the early afternoon on upper elevation north facing.
Mid and lower elevations, soggy but mostly supportable.
Weather
Warm and sunny with light wind from the southwest
Avalanche activity
Widespread rollers and point release sluffing on all aspects resulting from the recent high temperatures.
Glide slide and point releases on Raymond rock slabs.
Wet slab into old snow layering observed in upper Mineral fork, wnw facing aspect.
I count five+ glide slides in the blue ice, diving board and bonkers area of Broads.
A closer view.
Zoomed glide
Evaluation
No activity was observed actually occurring but, recent sliding was widespread.
I'd expect that to continue until significant cooling, suggested by weather guessers on Sunday.
