Snow conditions
One of the favorite snow stakes
December 23
Several inches of new snow, mostly graupel, capped with a widespread zipper rime crust.
The rime crust was annoying at times where it had been exposed to the wind, making it a bit stouter.
Scattered patches of sandboxing, otherwise supportable.
Ski penetration was only a few inches, boot and pole penetration variable from, to the ground or a few inches.
December 24
Add a few more inches, capping the rime crust.
Weather
December 23
Overcast to foggy skies with spits and sputters of snow flakes. Wind was from the wnw gusting to 20 mph, mostly light.
December 24
Stronger winds during the little over night storm scattered rime all over the hill with only a few misanns escaping.
Otherwise, blue skies, cool temperatures with little wind
