December 15
Silver Fork, Days Fork, Cardiff
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
7400-10500', angles over 35°, all aspects.
Snow conditions
4-8" new and settled snow from the recent storm.
New snow is right side up and well behaved, with sluffing in the most recent few inches.
It has concealed terrain features like rocks and stumps which were easily seen and avoided prior.
South facing and some off aspects may have warmed enough to crust.
Weather
Blue skies with light wind. Warm in the sun, cool in the shade.
Avalanche Activity
Largest slide observed was in Upper Days Fork(Two Dogs).
Of interest, it over ran two kick turns on the up track.
Snow pit
Evaluation
Good stability with shallow new snow sluffing, both wet and dry.
Future instability would be from significant new snow, increased wind or rapid warming.
