March 25

Grizzly Gulch, Silver Fork, Days Fork, Cardiff Fork, Mineral Fork

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

7200-10800', angles over 35°, all aspects.

Snow conditions

2-10" high density new snow over a mostly crusted base.

Upper elevations had significantly more fresh than lowers.

New snow was well bonded with only a few surface sluffs resulting from ski cuts.

It did not, for the most part, eliminate feeling the old surface, upper elevations and lower slope angles skied best.

Shady aspects remained dry into late afternoon.

Weather

Clear to partly cloudy skies, light wind and cool temperatures.

Avalanche activity

One heli triggered slide in Cardiac bowl.

cardiac-slide

Looker's right chute, new snow only, didn't run far.

Evaluation

Good stability in the area traveled.

Weather guessers are suggesting warmer temperatures so...would expect an increase in wet activity potential for a day or two.
