Porter Fork, Raymond glade, Mill A, Raymond slabs
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
6300-10300', angles over 35°, all aspects.
Snow conditions
Lower elevations were crusted in the a.m.
Upper elevation sun exposed softened in a timely manner remaining so into early afternoon.
Upper elevation shady wind sheltered retained soft snow over crust.
Lower elevation shady remained firm all day(wear your earplugs).
Weather
Clear skies, light wind, mild temperatures.
Avalanche activity
My records indicate 4 avalanches on the face of Gobblers.
This one(hard to see, I know) ran between the 24th and 27th, leaving a good sized debris pile.
Debris was observed in the main gully 2500 vertical feet from the ridge.
The face has also suffered extensive scouring.
Another glide in the Diving Board area of Broads Fork.
Ran a little further than previous, over running my skin track from the 23rd.
Safe travel is timing and technique dependent.
Evaluation
Good stability in the area traveled.
Future instability would be from any new snow amount, bonding, wind and or warming.
