November 26

Grizzly Gulch, Silver Fork, Days Fork, Spruces

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

7400-10200', angles over 35°, all aspects.

Snow conditions

silver-ridge

3-6" new snow over a variable base of 12-20" old snow.

New snow was right side up, bonding, good.

The old surface was a crust of variable thickness and supportability.

Scouring along the ridges and upper bowls from north wind a week or so ago provide thin cover on entry.

Shallow surface sluffs with ski cuts, minimal impact.

No cracking or collapsing observed.

Ski conditions were "a little punchy" on steeper slopes, "fast and fun" on lower angles.

Lower elevation cover is marginal, best to find a packed track or trail.

Weather

Partly cloudy to overcast skies, a few flakes in the afternoon, light wind and cool temperatures.

Evaluation

Good stability on all aspects at all elevations.
