Gobblers Knob from Pole canyon via the Bowman trail

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

6200-10400', angles over 35°, north and west facing aspects.

Snow conditions

snow-stake

4" or so of new snow at the trailhead with 10-12" at upper elevations. Snow totals of around 20" from the last two storms.

Scattered drifting and scouring, aspect dependent, with some small cornice falls along the Alexander Basin-Gobblers ridge-line during the storm.

Foot penetration was near the ground as the new and recent are still settling.

Weather

Clear skies, Cool temperatures and light wind.

Evaluation

Good stability with no cracking and no collapsing. Shallow drifts were non reactive.
