City Creek-Cottonwood gulch
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
4900-9400'(snow line between 6500-7k), slope angles over 35°, all aspects.
Snow conditions
Snow was patchy from Rotary park to the Cottonwood gulch entry. South facing had seen significant melt off from the recent rains at lower elevations. Condition was crust on all aspects. Softening was timely with, southwest good corn at around 11am, northwest softening at 12:30 pm.
Weather
Clear and sunny in the morning. Increasing clouds and wind by early afternoon with winds from the west, gusting over 25 mph along the ridges.
Evaluation
Late spring snow conditions. Any instabilities will be from new storm snow. Dense supportable underlying snow pack will melt in place.
