Snow conditions
The recent storms have produced probably the best skiing of the year and that continued. Snow has settled nicely, best illustrated by
a photo of the Bowman trail sign. The same sign on February 10
shows the creep and settlement over a three day period. The sunny aspects did see enough sun during the day to crust with cooling. Slufffing was limited to the upper inch or two on the steepest slopes.
Photo of upper main Porter shows the extensive sluffing during the series of recent storms.
Glide continues on the rock slabs at a reduced rate. Interesting example of a double glide
on the Raymond Slabs.
Weather
Blue skies, mild temperatures and light wind into the afternoon, with increasing clouds and a little wind late in the day.
Evaluation
Good stability, with sluffing a minor issue. The weather guess of yet another storm should increas instabilities. How much would be dependent on bonding of the new snow to the old surface and the amount of wind during and following any significant snowfall.
