Snow conditions

Snow in the area from Lookout peak, Grandview and Bountiful's Millcreek canyon had settled nicely from the recent storms. South facing and off aspects were crusted in the morning, softening with day time heating.

A little westerly wind, for most of the morning hours, kept wet activity to a minimum with only a few rollers noted. Southwest wind late in the stormy period made a mess of some exposed areas,

most obvious on the southwest face of Grandview peak, Cottonwood Gulch. Examination, by skiing through the swells, produced no slide activity.

North facing and sheltered terrain had soft, settled snow. Some surface hoar and near surface faceting was observed but warming during the day melted much of it.Ski cutting produced no sluffing.

Weather

Clear to partly cloudy skies, winds from the west, gusting to around 20 mph, before noon, mild temperatures.

Evaluation

Stable snow, little indication of instability. Spring like conditions were developing with, early corn likely within a day or two, if melt freeze cycle continued. Wet activity would be an afternoon event with warmer temperatures.
