December 12
Grizzly Gulch, Silver, Days, Cardiff, Reynolds Flat
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
7400-10k+, angles over 35°, all aspects
Snow conditions
Dense recent snow at all elevations. An inch of fresh eliminated the fluff at upper elevations with, a rain rime event crusting elevations below about 9300'.
Off aspects at all but the highest elevations and south facing warmed enough to initiate wet activity(mostly rollers). Mid and lower elevations cooled enough to crust late in the day.
There was a bit of drifting and scouring at all elevations. Drifts were not sensitive in areas traveled through
Weather
Foggy and humid in the a.m. Sunny by mid day. Temperatures were mild and winds were light.
Avalanche activity
Recent roof slide along the summer road at the base of Grizzly Gulch.
Glide was observed in the Diving Board area of Broads.
Rollers off the rocks are also seen at the bottom of the photo in Mill B south, ese facing.
Evaluation
Wet activity would continue to be of concern. There may also still be some active drifts at upper elevations. Potential for further glide exists.
