Porter-Neffs

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

5200-9800', angles over 35°, north east and west facing aspects.

Snow conditions

Settled snow with depths above the rain crust from 4-12".

Surface hoar and faceting are appearing in sheltered and shady

new-hoar

at all elevations.

Rain crust is variable in depth and has started to break down where thin and exposed.

Stout exposed rain crust, mostly near ridges and on west facing retains it's boiler plate character, best avoided.

Weather

Bluebird with light wind and moderate temperatures.

Evaluation

Drifting on lee aspects may still be reactive with a good trigger.

Sliders on exposed rain crust are likely.
