Upper Mill B south-Mineral
Elevations, slope angles and aspects
7200-10500', angles over 35°, all aspects.
Snow conditions
1-4" new snow over a variable, mostly crusted base.
The new snow was well bonded with scattered surface sluffing from drifting.
Control work at Alta illustrates new snow sluffing( the large crown above the rock band is from last week) and wind effect.
More new snow was, of course, found in upper Cardiff Fork.
Below about 8k, snow got soggy on all aspects. Upper elevation shady stayed dry into late afternoon.
Weather
Clear to partly cloudy skies. Moderate temperatures and light wind from the west.
Evaluation
Overnight cooling with a few inches of fresh provided improved ski conditions with good stability.
Instability would be from warm snow at mid and lower elevations and wet activity on the sunny side, if it heats up.
Lingering active wind drifting at upper elevations possible.
