March 15

Broads Fork-Mill B South

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

6200-10500', angles over 35°, all aspects except south facing.

Snow conditions

2-4" recent snow over a spongy base.

A few minutes of sun started the rollers on east facing by about 10 am.

That activity continued, including west facing by afternoon.

Shaded aspects remained dry with conditions best described as, thick and creamy.

Lower elevations had a thin crust in the morning, slushy in the afternoon.

Weather

Overcast skies with partial clearing, partly cloudy, at times during the day.

Temperatures were mild, light wind from the southwest.

Avalanche activity

A couple of photos of the glide observed on March 11

glide-debris

Probably ran with the warm up the day before.

glides

No further activity was observed.

Evaluation

Instability was rollers with warming.

Would expect a continuation of wet activity till things cool down, especially at mid and lower elevations.

Weather guess insists a storm is on the way so...

future instability would be dependent on wind, snow amount and bonding of new snow to old surface + density changes within new snow layering.
