February 20

Yellow Jacket, Alexander Basin, Gobblers Knob, Porter Fork

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

6200-10400', angles over 35°, all aspects.

Snow conditions

I found 1-6" elevation dependent, new and recent snow. About an inch overnight at upper elevations.

confused

It was right side up and bonded well with the old surfaces.

Wind from the northwest increased for a time yesterday afternoon and produced some sluffing on lee aspects, east-northeast facing.

middle

Ski cutting indicated that was mostly healed as no further sluffing was induced.

Daytime heating may have produced some wet activity, I didn't see any, and crusted the most exposed.

Weather

Clear skies and moderate temperatures in the morning. Clouds increased and thickened by late afternoon. Winds were light.

Evaluation

Good stability in the area.

Weather guessers are suggesting stormy weather through the first half of the week so...

Instability would be from new wind drifts, lack of old-new snow bond, weak layering under the current settled and weak shallow snow on and under old bed surfaces from the January slide cycle.
