Alta guard station, Cardiff Fork, Mill D north fork, Soldier Fork, Millcreek

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

6400-10500', angles over 35°, all aspects.

Snow conditions

Settled snow from the recent storms? remains soft on all aspects at upper elevations. Sun exposure has crusted some mid and lower elevations.

Several days of wind from the east soured the windward with some drifting observed on lee aspects.

ridge-drift

Damage was most widespread at upper elevations near the ridges.

Sheltered, shady aspects have the best ski conditions.

No collapsing.

Weather

Partly cloudy skies, moderate temperatures and light wind from the ese.

Avalanche activity

Haven't been in Cardiff for a while so...

hmmm

Looker's left Holy Toledo, evidence of wind effect in the shadows.

rock-slab

Cardiff slabs with a little pocket pulling out at mid elevation break over, random heli bombing.

Evaluation

Good stability in areas traveled.

Lingering potential from wind drifting, the outlier into old snow and wet activity from warming.
