Porter Fork -Raymond

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

6200-9800', angles over 35°, north facing aspects

Snow conditions

Lower elevation snow had a thick spongy crust, cooling down after the warm up.

Snow above about 8k was soft and creamy in sheltered locations with a skiff of new snow.

Another round of wind left the face of Gobblers unchanged but, extensive wind damge was observed on south east facing Raymond, scouring into Mill A.

A little surface hoar at mid elevations

with evidence of recrystalized, upper elevations.

Snow depth ranged from a few inches at the trail head to over 2 feet up high, on the shady side

Weather

Sunny skies with increasing clouds in the aftenoon. Mild temperatures, cooler at low elevation.Winds were light.

Evaluation

Stable snow was found in the area.

Isolated active wind drift potential.
